Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
Non-surgical, painless, permanent Solution to Beautiful Healthy LEGS
What is EVLT Endovenous Laser Treatment?
EVLT stands for Endovenous Laser Treatment aka EVLA (Endovenous Laser Ablation). EVLT is a 30 minute, non-surgical, outpatient procedure that is performed with a relaxing medication and local anesthesia for closure of abnormal varicose veins.
Dr. Kimberly Moskowitz has performed over 7,000 successful EVLT procedures since it was FDA approved in 2002.
EVLT is comfortable outpatient treatment for varicose veins that is performed in 30 minutes and has a 97-99% success rate.
Patients experience minimal to no discomfort during the procedure, no scarring, and no downtime.
Until recently, the only successful treatment option for large, painful, varicose veins in the leg was surgical vein stripping, general anesthesia, a long painful recovery period, and the risk of unsightly scars on the legs.
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) aka Endovenous Laser Ablation EVLA was FDA approved in 2002 and has entirely replaced the need for painful surgical stripping of large, varicose veins in the legs.
Will EVLT treatment of my varicose veins be covered by my insurance plan?
Yes. The EVLT procedure is covered by most insurance companies because it is only performed out of medical necessity.
What Treatments are Available for Varicose Veins and Spider Veins?
- Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) aka Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
- Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
- Foam Sclerotherapy
- Radiofrequency Closure (VNUS)
How does EVLT work?
During the EVLT procedure, an ultrasound is used to map the veins and guide placement of a thin, sterile, laser fiber into the abnormal Saphenous vein in the leg. After applying tumescent anesthesia to numb the vein, laser energy is used to close the vein at the precise origin of the problem. The blood is immediately re-directed to the healthier deep veins in the leg.
The body naturally reabsorbs the treated vein. As we reduce the pressure coming from these abnormal large veins, it allows the unsightly branches close to the surface to shrink and fade away.
This results in beautiful, healthier legs with improved circulation.
There is no post-operative scarring and patients usually notice improvement in symptoms within one to two weeks. Many patients report symptomatic improvement the first night after they are treated.
